Danish Energi Fyn & Telenor Enter Fiber Agreement

Danish Energi Fyn and Telenor have now announced a concluded fiber agreement.

The effect of this is that Telenor via MaxSpeed will offer customers on the Danish island of Fyn internet at speeds of up to 1 000 Mbit/s in the entire Energy Fyn supply area, which covers the majority of of the island.

For Telenor, the agreement is another important step in the ambition to be able to deliver high-speed internet, and Telenor's CEO, Lars Thomsen, is pleased that Energi Fyn also sees the potential in utilizing the volume of their fibre network and providing consumers with a higher degree of freedom of choice when it comes to choosing an ISP.

“A fast and good internet connection is more important than ever before, as the Danes' consumption of streaming, gaming and video meetings is rising sharply and places higher demands on the speed of one's internet connection. Our customers demand high-speed internet, and therefore I am pleased that with this new agreement we will be able to provide high-speed internet for around 2.5. mio. addresses in Denmark," said Lars Thomsen, CEO at Telenor.

"Danes are naturally moving towards the faster bandwidths, but high speed and low price are not enough in itself," said Thomsen.

And went on to explain the importance of ensuring high availability, good service whilst making sure that customers are not met by any hidden fees.

Telenor's MaxSpeed internet products have recently been named 'Best Broadband Product' by the thinktank Tænk.

It is expected that the first Telenor customers will be connected to Energi Fyn's fibre network at the beginning of Q3 in 2021.
