Today we are looking back on the release and first year of Downhill, a game created by Lonely Mountains, owned by the Swedish game company Thunderful Publishing & Megagon Industries.
Lonely Mountains: Downhill was initially released on October 23rd, 2019.
During its first year, the game has enjoyed great success amongst players and critics; this has resulted in 1,2 million players as of September 2020.
Downhill has also gone on to win awards such as 'Best Indie Game' at the German Developer Awards and 'Best International Indie Game' at Poznan Game Arena.
“The way the game has been received during this past year has touched us more deeply than we anticipated. Not only was the number of positive reviews and loving feedback from the community overwhelming, but we know that for some riders, the Lonely Mountains were more than a just game,” said Daniel Helbig and Jan Bubenik, developers at Megagon Industries.
“We’ve had players saying that the game brought them a place to retreat to during these challenging times the world has faced lately. It’s beautiful to see that our game has found its place in the heart of so many players,” Helbig and Bubenik added.
The Team now releases an addition to the Downhill game:
The DLC: Eldfjall Island comes complete with brand-new challenges for each of its four trails.
Here players will be able to unlock new outfits, paint jobs, and accessories, all while racing down the mountain as quickly as possible to climb up the leaderboards.
Additionally, new special effects will make the journey even more intense than ever before with thunderstorms and an active volcano.
“We are excited to share our biggest and most versatile mountain so far!” said Jan Bubenik.
The new mountain is now available as downloadable content.
We believe that information should be free and will therefore never put up a paywall.
