From 1 November 2021, Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, CEO and founder of Danish beer company Mikkeller steps down from the position as CEO. 44-year-old Kenneth Madsen will take over as the next CEO of the Danish specialty beer group.

Kenneth Madsen as New CEO
The new CEO has a past with the Danish brewery giant Carlsberg and international experience with both Ecco and Pandora in Asia, which according to Mikkel Borg Bjergsø will constitute "valuable experiences" for the great benefit of Mikkeller's future growth.

“Ever since my time with Carlsberg, I’ve dreamt about one day returning to the beer business, so when the offer came to join the Mikkeller team it was a no brainer. Not only is Mikkeller one of the leading craft beer brands worldwide with a strong business in Europe and the US, but there is also a huge potential for expansion in untapped markets such as China,” said Madsen.

A Better Fit
"Over the last few years, I've spent a lot of time on the business side, and that's not really what I'm passionate about," said Mikkel Borg Bjergsø in a press release.

He added: "With Kenneth's help, I'll have time to concentrate on and take proper care of what I'm really good at, namely, develop the creative part of Mikkeller - the products and the brand."

Bjergsø will in future take on the role of Creative Director at Mikkeller.

Bjergsø will alongside his new role as Creative Director at Mikkeller still uphold his position as CEO at a number of other businesses also founded by the Danish entrepreneur, Stefansgade Bar ApS and Craft Beer Bar Holding ApS among others.
