Telenor Norway Cuts 170 Employees

Telenor Norway implements organisational changes and approximately 170 employees are set to become redundant as a result of these changes.

Cutting Down Costs
"Telenor Norway is implementing organisational changes as part of its efforts to improve efficiency and modernize the company," Telenor Norway wries in a press release.

Approximately 170 employees will become redundant as a result of these changes. A large portion of these people are located at Telenor Norway’s head office at Fornebu.

A General Look at Efficiency
Telenor Norway has worked systematically over several years to increase operational efficiency, and ambitious goals have been set to offer quality, new technology and secure access to the services that matter most to customers.

"We are in the midst of the biggest technological shift in recent times and are moving customers from old to future-oriented solutions," said Petter-Børre Furberg, CEO of Telenor Norway.

"By 2023, we have replaced the traditional copper network with fibre and mobile networks, providing higher speed and improved operational reliability for our customers,” Furberg added.

Demands for Quality
Increased digitalisation of society means higher demands for quality of services and network robustness.

“To meet customer expectations, we already now need to change the way we work. Therefore, we are implementing organisational changes involving all divisions in Telenor Norway,” says Furberg.

Primarily, the organisational changes are aimed at making Telenor’s processes more customer-oriented, simplifying the way the company operates, strengthening collaboration across units, as well as reducing costs.

On the 5th of March, the employees were informed by the management that the company is downsizing.

"In the time to come, our priority is to look after everyone in the best possible way and ensure a good follow-up of our employees,” says Furberg.

Employees who are not placed into a new organisation will be offered severance agreements and job assistance.
