The Sweden-based startup Coherence announced that it secured 2.5 million dollars in a seed investment round.
Placed for Success
Coherence is working on creating a framework for game developers. It is conveniently based out of one of the hottest game development cities in Scandinavia; Malmö.
The investment was provided by Firstminute Capital and included Sisu Game Ventures and Paul Heydon.
According to Coherence, the funding will be used to hire additional people in Malmö, as well as for business development in other cities with large developer communities.
Coherence was founded in 2018 by CEO Dino Patti and David Helgason, who is best known for his role as the founder and for several years CEO of Unity.
The aim, according to Coherence, is to democratise online games by allowing teams of all sizes to create massively scalable and persistent virtual worlds.
Coherence will be integrated with existing popular game engines, the first of which will be Unity.
Coherence's platform is currently under development, a closed beta is scheduled for the end of 2019, with a full launch planned for 2020.
